Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the burden of dog bite cases at the National Referral Hospital in Bhutan

Introduction: Dog bite is a public health problem in Bhutan incurring huge cost of treatment. The general objective the study was to see impact COVID-19 pandemic on burden dog cases and profile patients, comparing with that year before started (2019) at National Referral Hospital. Methods: This retrospective record review 2019 2020. target population were people living Thimphu city. bites occurred outside excluded from study. Proportion according demographic clinical variables calculated. Univariate multivariate analysis done look for risk factors responsible 2020 compared 2019. A statistically significant level set <0.01. Results: recorded 3.3% 2.4% respectively There male predominance highest incidence age group 20-59 years. commonest site lower limbs stray exposure. Conclusion: less reported which may be due pandemic. Majority high can major concern health, social economic wellbeing nation needs urgent intervention.
